Why Make This Recipe

You should make Apple Fries because they are fun to eat and simple to prepare! This recipe is great for family gatherings or just a cozy evening at home. Plus, it’s a creative way to enjoy apples!

How to Make Apple Fries

Ingredients:

  • 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and cut into wedges
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. First, heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix cornstarch, cinnamon, and sugar together.
  3. Toss apple wedges in the cornstarch mixture until they are well coated.
  4. Fry the apple wedges in batches until they are golden and crispy, which takes about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  5. Once done, drain them on paper towels.
  6. To make the caramel sauce, combine brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves and it is smooth.
  7. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
  8. Serve your apple fries right away with warm caramel sauce for dipping.

How to Serve Apple Fries

Serve Apple Fries fresh and hot, alongside a small bowl of warm caramel sauce. They make a fun snack or dessert that everyone enjoys. You can also add a sprinkle of cinnamon on top for extra flavor!

How to Store Apple Fries

If you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. However, they are best when fresh and crispy, so I recommend enjoying them right away!

Tips to Make Apple Fries

  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying for the best crispiness.
  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a nice balance of sweet and sour.
  • Don’t fry too many at once. Frying in batches helps them cook evenly.

Variation

You can change up the flavor by adding different spices, like nutmeg or allspice, to the cornstarch mixture. You can also try serving them with chocolate sauce instead of caramel!
