Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • 9x9 inch Baking Pan

Ingredients

Brownie Batter

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, melt the butter. Then mix it with 1 cup of sugar, 2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla until smooth.
  • Add in the cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder, and mix well. Spread this batter into your prepared pan, but reserve 1/4 of the batter for the top.
  • In another bowl, beat the cream cheese with 1/3 cup sugar, 1 egg, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla until it’s nice and smooth.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter in the pan.
  • Take the reserved brownie batter and dollop it on top of the cream cheese layer. Use a knife to swirl it around for a marbled effect.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.

Notes

Store any leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. If you want them to last longer, you can refrigerate them for up to a week.
