Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 lb ground beef

Vegetables

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cups potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced

Dairy

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk

Canned Goods

  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup (10.75 oz)

Spices

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any extra fat.
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom, followed by half of the cooked beef and onion mix. Sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef and onion, and cheese.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the milk, condensed cream of mushroom soup, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour this mixture over the layers in the baking dish.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
  • After an hour, remove the foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding your favorite herbs and spices. You can use different cheeses, like mozzarella or pepper jack, for a twist!
