Chill and Indulge: No-Bake Nanaimo Bars Recipe

Bring a bit of Canadian flair to your dessert table with these scrumptious No-Bake Nanaimo Bars. Famous for their three-layered delight, they require no baking and are packed with a combination of chocolate, nuts, and a creamy custard flavor.

Ingredients:

  • Crust:
    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 1/4 cup sugar
    • 5 tbsp cocoa
    • 1 large egg, beaten
    • 1.5 cups graham cracker crumbs
    • 1/2 cup almonds, chopped
    • 1 cup coconut
  • Filling:
    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 3 tbsp heavy cream
    • 2 tbsp vanilla custard powder (or instant vanilla pudding powder)
    • 2 cups sugar
  • Topping:
    • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 2 tbsp butter

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Crust:
    • Melt butter, sugar, and cocoa in a double boiler. Add the beaten egg and stir until thickened. Remove from heat, stir in crumbs, coconut, and almonds, and press into an 8″ x 12″ pan.
  2. Create the Filling:
    • Cream together butter, cream, custard powder, and sugar until light and fluffy. Spread evenly over the crust.
  3. Add the Topping:
    • Melt chocolate chips and butter together, cool slightly, then pour over the filling. Chill in the refrigerator.
