  • 1 can (10.5 oz) Campbell's French onion soup
  • 1.5 lbs Ground beef
  • 0.5 cup Dry breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.125 teaspoon Ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon All-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup Ketchup
  • 1-3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon Mustard powder
  • 0.25 cup Water

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, and 1/3 cup of the French onion soup. Mix until well combined and shape into 6 oval patties.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown patties on both sides. Drain off excess fat.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together remaining soup and flour until smooth. Stir in ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard powder.
  • Pour gravy mixture over the patties in the skillet. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Notes

To thicken gravy, simmer uncovered the last 5 minutes. Add mushrooms or a splash of beef broth for extra richness. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
