Equipment

  • Medium Saucepan
  • Heatproof Spatula

Ingredients

Cheese Dip Ingredients

  • 8 oz White American Cheese, shredded or roughly chopped
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream room temperature or lightly warmed
  • 1/2 cup Milk room temperature (add more for thinner consistency)
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin measured and ready to sprinkle
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder measured and ready to sprinkle

Instructions

  • Prepare ingredients: Shred or roughly chop the White American cheese so it melts more evenly. Measure out the heavy cream, milk, ground cumin, and garlic powder before you begin.
  • Warm the liquids: In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream and milk and warm over low heat until just steaming — do not boil.
  • Add the cheese: Gradually add the shredded White American cheese to the warm cream mixture, stirring continuously with a heatproof spatula or wooden spoon.
  • Stir constantly: Keep stirring over low heat until all the cheese has melted and the mixture is silky. This should take about 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Season the dip: Sprinkle in the ground cumin and garlic powder, stirring thoroughly to distribute the spices evenly.
  • Adjust consistency: If the dip is too thick, add a splash more milk and stir until you reach your desired pourable texture.
  • Serve warm: Transfer the cheese dip into a serving bowl and enjoy immediately with tortilla chips, sliced veggies, or warm flour tortillas.

Notes

Keep the dip warm in a small slow cooker on warm to prevent skin from forming.
