Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Rice Cooker

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or canned)
  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 green onion thinly sliced (for garnish)
  • sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the rice according to package instructions. Set aside and keep warm.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch until smooth. Set aside.
  • Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef and cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned but still tender.
  • Pour the teriyaki sauce mixture over the beef. Stir well and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef nicely.
  • Toss in the pineapple chunks, stirring gently to combine and warm through without breaking up the fruit.
  • Spoon cooked rice into bowls and top with the teriyaki beef and pineapple mixture.
  • Finish with a sprinkle of thinly sliced green onions and sesame seeds for a burst of color and texture.

Notes

Use fresh pineapple for better flavor. Adjust sweetness to taste.
