Broccoli, fresh, cut into florets
Trim stems and cut into even-sized pieces.

Olive Oil
Extra virgin preferred for roasting.

Salt
Use kosher or sea salt to taste.

Freshly ground recommended, to taste.
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Position a rack in the middle of the oven.
Toss the broccoli florets with the olive oil, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
Spread the broccoli on a baking sheet in a single layer.
Roast for 15-20 minutes until tender and lightly charred.
Remove from the oven and smash the broccoli with a fork or potato masher to your desired consistency.
Notes
For extra flavor, finish with lemon, cheese, chili flakes, or toasted nuts.
