Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Air Fryer
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 5 small or medium Potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 8 oz can Tomato Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons BBQ Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard
  • 1–2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Minced Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper

Seasoning for Potatoes

  • Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, and Paprika to season potatoes; to taste

Instructions

  • Toss the cubed potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in a large bowl. Arrange in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for about 20 minutes, shaking the basket a couple of times so the potatoes get evenly crispy and golden on all sides.
  • While the potatoes cook, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and chopped onion. Cook, breaking up the beef with a spoon, until browned and no longer pink. Season with salt, pepper, onion powder, and paprika. Stir in minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, and BBQ sauce to the skillet. Mix everything thoroughly and let simmer on low heat. This allows the flavors to meld while you finish the potatoes.
  • When the potatoes are crispy and golden, transfer them into the skillet with the beef mixture. Gently toss everything together so the potatoes are coated in sloppy joe sauce. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese generously over the top of the skillet.
  • Place the skillet under the broiler for just a few minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and a bit golden. Watch closely so it doesn’t burn.
  • Scoop generous portions onto plates and enjoy hot! Serve alongside your favorite garnishes or sides for a complete meal.

Notes

For extra crispiness, soak your cubed potatoes in cold water for 10–15 minutes before air frying. You can also use sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes for a different flavor.
