Equipment

  • Pot

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1.25 cup Long Grain Rice, uncooked
  • 14.5 oz Beef Broth canned
  • 1 large Onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated cheese optional, for topping

Instructions

  • In a pot, melt the butter over medium heat and add the sliced onions. Sauté until the onions are caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Add the uncooked rice to the pot and stir until coated with the butter and onions.
  • Pour in the beef broth and add thyme. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
  • Optional: before serving, sprinkle grated cheese on top and let it melt. Serve warm.

Notes

Make sure to caramelize the onions well for a deeper flavor. Adjust seasoning to your liking. Use chicken broth for a lighter version or vegetable broth for a vegetarian option. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat with a splash of broth to keep it moist.
