Equipment

  • Large Pot
  • Skillet

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 8 oz pasta (any type), dry

Butter

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter room temperature or melted

Garlic

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

Cream

  • 1 cup heavy cream

Parmesan Cheese

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese freshly grated if possible

Seasoning

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving about 1/4 cup pasta water.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Watch carefully so it doesn't brown.
  • Add minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant and slightly golden.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and stir gently to combine with the garlic butter. Bring to a gentle simmer and let it cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Lower heat and add grated Parmesan cheese. Stir continuously until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
  • Season the sauce with salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste.
  • Add the drained pasta into the skillet and toss gently until well-coated in the sauce. Heat together for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Transfer to serving bowls and garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best melting and flavor. If the sauce becomes too thick, stir in reserved pasta water one tablespoon at a time until silky.
