Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Red food coloring

Filling

  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Cream cheese frosting For topping

Instructions

  • Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  • Step 2: On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5 minutes or until smooth. Form it into a ball and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  • Step 3: Roll the dough into a rectangle (about 12×8 inches) on a floured surface.
  • Step 4: In a small bowl, mix cinnamon and remaining brown sugar. Sprinkle this mixture evenly on top of the rolled-out dough.
  • Step 5: Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log shape. Slice the log into equal portions (about 1 – 1.5 inches thick) and place them in a greased baking pan.
  • Step 6: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until they are lightly golden on top.
  • Step 7: Once baked, allow the rolls to cool slightly, then generously top with cream cheese frosting. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Freeze unbaked rolls for up to 2 months.
