  • Baking Pan
  • Whisk
  • Sifter

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips optional

Cream Cheese Swirl Ingredients

  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until well combined. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring, and whisk until the mixture is smooth.
  • Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt, and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. Stir in the white vinegar.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips for an extra layer of richness and texture.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture on top and swirl it into the batter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Let the brownies cool in the pan before cutting them into squares. Serve them as is, or with a dusting of powdered sugar or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

Use gel food coloring for a more intense red color. Don’t overbake to keep the brownies moist and fudgy.
