  • 1 head green cabbage, cut into 1-inch slices
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce (or ketchup)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella, Monterey Jack), divided
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red chili pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp grated garlic
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped parsley

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Arrange cabbage slices on a baking sheet, brush with oil, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Roast cabbage for 10 minutes until slightly tender.
  • In a bowl, mix ground beef, garlic, green onion, parsley, chili flakes, half the cheese, salt, and pepper.
  • Shape the beef mixture into 4 patties.
  • Top each cabbage slice with tomato sauce, a sprinkle of cheese, a beef patty, and more cheese.
  • Return to oven and bake for another 10–12 minutes until patties are cooked and cheese is melted.
  • Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Try swapping beef for turkey or plant-based protein. Store leftovers in the fridge up to 3 days or freeze for 2 months. Reheat in a 350°F oven.
