Instructions
Prepare and bake yellow cake in a 9x13-inch pan according to package directions. Cool completely.
Poke holes in the cooled cake using the handle of a wooden spoon.
In a bowl, combine 1 package orange JELL-O with 1 cup boiling water and 1 cup cold water. Mix well and pour evenly over the cake. Refrigerate for 4 hours.
In another bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix, 1 cup cold milk, remaining orange JELL-O powder, and vanilla extract until thickened.
Fold in the Cool Whip until smooth and creamy.
Spread the mixture over the chilled cake and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Notes
Chill the cake well before adding the topping. For a layered cake version, use two round cake pans and follow the same JELL-O soak method before frosting.
