Equipment

  • Large Pan or Wok
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Cooked Rice Preferably day-old and cold
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Mixed Vegetables (carrots, peas, corn, etc.)
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Oyster Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
  • to taste Salt and Pepper
  • as needed Vegetable Oil For frying

Instructions

  • Prepare ingredients: Ensure your cooked rice is cold to prevent clumping. Chop the onion and mince the garlic. Set mixed vegetables aside.
  • Cook the beef: Heat a drizzle of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned and cooked through, breaking it up as it cooks. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.
  • Sauté onions and garlic: In the same pan, add a little more vegetable oil if necessary. Toss in the chopped onion and cook until translucent and slightly caramelized, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add vegetables: Stir in the mixed vegetables and cook until heated through and slightly tender, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Combine rice and beef: Add the day-old rice to the pan, breaking up any clumps. Return the cooked ground beef to the mixture and stir everything together thoroughly.
  • Season: Pour the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil evenly over the rice. Stir well to coat every grain and ingredient with the sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
  • Finish cooking: Continue stirring and frying for another 3-4 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the rice to slightly crisp up. Remove from heat and serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftover onion beef fried rice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze it in meal-sized portions for up to 2 months. To reheat, warm it gently in a skillet or in the microwave with a splash of water or broth to revive moisture.
