Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked rice preferably day-old and cold
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, etc.)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • Start with cold, day-old rice. This helps prevent clumping while frying.
  • Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  • Add chopped onion and garlic. Cook until soft and fragrant.
  • Stir in the mixed vegetables. Cook for a few minutes until just tender.
  • Add the cold rice to the skillet. Stir everything together to combine well.
  • Drizzle in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Stir to coat evenly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions or cilantro if desired. Serve hot!

Notes

Use gluten-free soy sauce to make this dish gluten-free. You can substitute ground beef with chicken, shrimp, or tofu. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
