  • 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes (about 2 large sweet potatoes)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust

Instructions

  • Boil or bake the sweet potatoes until soft, then peel and mash them until smooth.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, melted butter, sugar, milk, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  • Pour the filling into the unbaked pie crust and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the pie for about 50 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.
  • Allow the pie to cool completely before serving. Garnish with whipped cream or a sprinkle of cinnamon, if desired.

Notes

For best results, allow the pie to chill for a few hours before serving. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. This pie can also be frozen for up to one month when wrapped tightly.
