Ingredients
1/2cupunsalted butter, melted
1cupgranulated sugar
2largeeggs
1teaspoonvanilla extract
1/3cupcocoa powder
1/2cupall-purpose flour
1/4teaspoonbaking powder
1/4teaspoonsalt
6ouncesdark chocolate chunks or chips
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
Add the eggs and vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is creamy and smooth.
Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt, and gently fold everything together using a spatula. Don’t overmix—just stir until all the dry ingredients disappear.
Stir in half of the dark chocolate chunks or chips.
Scoop tablespoon-sized blobs of dough onto your prepared tray, spacing them out so they have room to spread.
Press a few extra chocolate chunks into the center of each dough mound—this is your “lava” core!
Bake for 9-11 minutes. The cookies will look slightly underbaked in the center; that’s exactly what you want for the gooey core.
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before moving them to a wire rack. Enjoy warm for the ultimate lava effect!
Notes
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of salted caramel sauce for an indulgent treat.
