  • 5 oz smoked sausage, sliced into rounds use beef or turkey sausage as preferred
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets trimmed into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil divided if preferred
  • 1 tablespoon butter room temperature or melted
  • 3 tablespoons honey use mild-flavored honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce low sodium if preferred
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced about 1 tablespoon
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch optional, for thickening
  • 1 tablespoon water optional, for thickening
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • for garnish chopped fresh parsley optional
  • for serving lemon wedges optional

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, garlic, and chili flakes. Set aside. If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix in the cornstarch slurry (1 teaspoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water) and whisk until smooth.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sausage and sauté for about 3–4 minutes until browned and slightly crispy. Remove and set aside on a plate.
  • Add the butter to the same skillet, then toss in the broccoli. Stir fry for 3–4 minutes until tender & crisp. If needed, add a splash of water and cover for 1–2 minutes to steam and speed cooking. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  • Push the broccoli to the side of the skillet and add the shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2–3 minutes on the first side until they begin to turn pink, then flip and cook for another 1–2 minutes until opaque and just cooked through (about 3 minutes per side total for large shrimp depending on thickness). Do not overcook.
  • Return the browned sausage to the skillet and pour the prepared sauce over everything. Toss well to coat and let simmer for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and everything is glazed and heated through. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  • Remove from heat and garnish with chopped fresh parsley and a squeeze of lemon if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Cool to room temperature before refrigerating. This dish freezes, but shrimp texture can change when frozen and reheated. For best texture, reheat just once and finish with a fresh sprinkle of parsley and a squeeze of lemon.
