Make sure the butter is at room temperature for easier mixing.

Instructions
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and salt until smooth.
Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until everything is well incorporated.
Pour in the sweetened condensed milk and peppermint extract. Mix until the dough becomes smooth and stiff.
If you want, divide the dough into small portions and knead in food coloring until the color is uniform.
Roll the dough into thin ropes and cut them into small pillow shapes, or use a mold to create fun shapes.
Let the mints dry on parchment paper at room temperature for about 4-6 hours. Turn them halfway through so they dry evenly.
Store the mints in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
