Ingredients

Cake Layer

  • 1 box Chocolate Cake Mix Prepared according to box directions
  • 1 can Milk Chocolate Frosting

Filling

  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Softened
  • 1 stick Butter Softened
  • 3 cups Confectioners' Sugar
  • 8 oz Cool Whip Tub

Instructions

  • Preheat oven and prepare chocolate cake mix according to package instructions. Divide into two greased 9-inch round pans.
  • Bake and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  • Add confectioners' sugar and mix well. Fold in Cool Whip until fluffy. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread cream filling evenly over the top.
  • Top with second cake layer and press gently.
  • Frost the top and sides of the cake with milk chocolate frosting.
  • Chill the cake for at least 1 hour before slicing and serving.

Notes

Chill the cake before slicing for best results. You can substitute homemade frosting or stabilize whipped cream with powdered sugar in place of Cool Whip. Great for birthdays and nostalgic celebrations.
