Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Frying Pan
  • Spatula

Ingredients

Bacon

  • 3 slices bacon ends or thick-cut bacon

Cheese

  • 2 slices cheese of your choice

Beef

  • 1 lb ground beef chuck

Seasoning

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Bun

  • 1 unit hamburger bun lightly toasted

Toppings

  • 2 slices dill pickle
  • 2 slices tomato
  • 1 handful shredded lettuce
  • 2 slices white onion or to taste

Condiments

  • Mustard to taste
  • Ketchup to taste
  • Mayo to taste

Instructions

  • Cook the Bacon: Place the bacon in a saucepan with enough water to cover it. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a slow simmer for about 45 minutes, or until the bacon shreds easily.
  • Form the Patty: While the bacon is cooking, shape the ground beef chuck into a patty and season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  • Crisp the Bacon: Remove the bacon from the water and place a small pile on one side of a large frying pan. Use a flat metal spatula to press down, forming it into a thin, flat patty.
  • Cook the Patties: On the other side of the frying pan, place the beef patty and lightly score it with the edge of the spatula. Flip both the beef and bacon patties over, cooking until the bacon is crispy and the beef patty reaches your desired doneness.
  • Melt the Cheese: Place a slice of cheese on both the bacon and beef patties, allowing them to melt.
  • Assemble the Burger: Spread mustard and mayo on the bottom bun. Stack the onion rings, drizzle with ketchup, and add tomato slices and pickles. Top with lettuce.
  • Stack & Serve: Place the bacon patty on top of the beef patty, then transfer the entire stack onto the prepared bottom bun. Cover with the top bun.
  • Wrap & Enjoy: Wrap the burger in waxed or parchment paper, and dig in!

Notes

Serve fresh off the grill with a side of crispy fries, onion rings, or coleslaw. Pair with a classic milkshake or soda.
