Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Spatula

Ingredients

Ground Beef

  • 1/2 pound ground beef

Seasoning

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Bread

  • 4 slices bread your choice – sourdough, white, or rye

Butter

  • 2 tablespoons butter softened

Cheese

  • 4 slices cheddar or American cheese

Instructions

  • In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until browned. Drain any excess fat and set aside.
  • Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  • On the unbuttered side of two slices, add the ground beef. Layer with cheese and top with the other slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook each sandwich for 4–5 minutes per side or until golden brown and the cheese is melted through.
  • Slice in half and serve immediately while warm and melty!

Notes

Consider pairing with a warm bowl of tomato soup or a crisp side salad.
