Ingredients
1boxChocolate Cake MixAny brand or variety you love.
1/2cupUnsalted ButterMelted.
1/3cupEvaporated Milk
1cupChopped Pecans
1cupSemi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1cupCaramel BitsOr soft caramels, unwrapped and roughly chopped.
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and evaporated milk. Mix until a soft, thick dough forms.
Press about two-thirds of the dough evenly into the bottom of your prepared pan to form the base layer.
Sprinkle the chopped pecans evenly over the dough. Next, scatter the caramel bits across the top, and then follow with the chocolate chips.
Take the remaining third of the dough and drop small spoonfuls over the top, covering as much of the filling as possible.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center looks just slightly underdone.
Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
Once fully cooled, slice into squares or bars and serve.
Notes
Store leftover cake bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer-term storage, wrap individual bars in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 2 months.
