Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Pot
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

Beef Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef steak sirloin or ribeye, cut into bite-sized pieces Choose quality meat for better flavor.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Potato Ingredients

  • 1 lb potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter for mash
  • Chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Potatoes: Start by placing the peeled potatoes in a pot filled with water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil. Cook until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Sauté the Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the beef bites, season with salt and pepper, and cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove the beef and set it aside.
  • Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add the unsalted butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
  • Combine Beef and Sauce: Return the beef to the skillet with the garlic butter, stirring to coat the pieces. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  • Prepare the Mashed Potatoes: Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them and return them to the pot. Add milk and 2 tablespoons of butter. Mash until creamy and season with salt to taste.
  • Serve: Plate a generous scoop of mashed potatoes, topped with those succulent beef bites. Garnish with chives if using, and dig in!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove, adding a splash of milk if needed.
