Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Dish

Ingredients

Meatloaf Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Ground Beef
  • 2 Large Onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 cup Beef Broth
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup Gruyère Cheese, grated
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp Dried Thyme
  • Salt & Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and cook for 20-25 minutes until caramelized, stirring occasionally.
  • Pour in beef broth and let it reduce by half. Set aside to cool.
  • In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Gruyère cheese, eggs, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Incorporate the cooled onion mixture into the beef mixture, blending evenly.
  • Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish.
  • Bake for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  • Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Swap Gruyère for Swiss or mozzarella for a different cheese flavor. Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a lighter version. Avoid overmixing the meat to keep it tender. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
