Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish so that nothing sticks.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the meat is browned and the onions are soft. Don’t forget to drain any excess fat.
Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the prepared dish. Top it with half of the cooked ground beef mixture. Sprinkle some salt and pepper for flavor.
Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes and beef mixture.
In a bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup and milk until it’s nice and smooth. Pour this mixture over the potatoes and beef layers.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake it for 1 hour.
After 1 hour, uncover the dish and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. Bake for another 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
