Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vegetable oil.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Don’t overmix!
  • Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch square baking pan.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

This cornbread is best served warm. You can enjoy it plain, or spread a little butter on top.
