Ingredients

Dough and Filling

  • 12 rolls Rhodes Dinner Rolls (thawed but still cold)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 12 tablespoons lemon curd and/or raspberry preserves

White Icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4-5 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough: Lightly flour your hands and flatten each thawed dinner roll into a 3-inch disc. Place them on two baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  • Butter and Sugar: Brush each disc with melted butter and sprinkle with granulated sugar. Cover loosely and let them rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 50 minutes).
  • Make the Filling: Mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and lemon juice until smooth. Set aside.
  • Preheat Oven: Once risen, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fill the Rolls: Press an indentation into the center of each roll. Spoon 1 tablespoon of cream cheese mixture into the center, followed by 1 teaspoon of lemon curd or raspberry preserves.
  • Egg Wash & Bake: Brush edges with beaten egg. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool & Ice: Let cool for 5 minutes. Mix powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk for icing. Drizzle over danishes.
  • Serve & Enjoy: Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
