  • 4 pieces chicken breasts, diced
  • 1 piece onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 3 cups fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup cooking cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon mixed spices
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 packages puff pastry dough (rectangular)

Instructions

  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions for 3 minutes.
  • Add chicken, garlic, and Italian herbs. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Add mushrooms, salt, pepper, and mixed spices. Continue cooking until mushrooms are tender.
  • Pour in chicken broth and simmer on low for 15 minutes until slightly reduced.
  • Add cooking cream and simmer for 5 more minutes until thick and creamy. Set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  • Line the bottom with one sheet of puff pastry. Add chicken mixture on top.
  • Cover with the second sheet of puff pastry. Cut a small vent in the center and brush with melted butter.
  • Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed. Rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Chilling the puff pastry before baking ensures the flakiest results. Feel free to add vegetables like peas or carrots to the filling for extra heartiness.
