  • 0.5 cup Onion, finely chopped
  • 0.25 cup Celery, finely chopped
  • 0.25 cup Carrot, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 0.25 tsp Cayenne Pepper (optional)
  • Salt & Black Pepper, to taste
  • 0.25 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 4 cups Seafood or Chicken Broth
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 0.5 lb Cooked Crab Meat (shells removed)
  • 0.5 lb Cooked Shrimp (peeled & chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Sherry (optional)
  • Fresh Herbs (Parsley, Chives, or Dill)

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion, celery, and carrot. Sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in garlic, tomato paste, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Sprinkle in flour and stir constantly for 1 minute.
  • Gradually add seafood or chicken broth, stirring to prevent lumps. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth (or blend in batches in a regular blender).
  • Stir in heavy cream and simmer gently for 10 more minutes, avoiding boiling.
  • Fold in crab meat, chopped shrimp, and sherry. Simmer for another 5 minutes.
  • Adjust seasoning if needed, garnish with fresh herbs, and serve hot.

Notes

For a spicier bisque, add extra cayenne pepper or diced jalapeños. Use lobster or scallops instead of shrimp for a luxurious twist. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for 2 months.
