Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Cake Pans
  • Oven

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2.5 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 4 large Egg whites
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Whole milk

Coloring and Flavoring

  • Pink and blue food coloring
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cotton candy extract (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two cake pans.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
  • Add egg whites one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour.
  • Divide the batter into two bowls. Add pink food coloring to one and blue food coloring to the other. Stir until the colors are evenly mixed.
  • Pour the batters into the prepared pans, alternating colors for a marbled effect.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let cakes cool completely before frosting.
  • Frost with cotton candy-flavored frosting and decorate with cotton candy or colorful sprinkles.

Notes

For best results, ensure the butter is softened before mixing. If you can’t find cotton candy extract, vanilla extract works well too.
