Instructions
Slice the onions into 1/2-inch thick rings and separate them.
Cut the mozzarella sticks in half and place them inside the onion rings, filling the rings completely.
In three separate bowls, place the flour, buttermilk, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
Dredge each filled onion ring first in the flour, then in the buttermilk, and finally in the seasoned breadcrumbs, ensuring each ring is fully coated.
Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large skillet to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the onion rings in batches for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying so they become nice and crispy. Don’t overcrowd the pan while frying. Fry in batches for best results.
