Ingredients

For the donuts

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup milk of choice
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the chocolate glaze

  • melted chocolate chips with a splash of cream or butter or your favorite chocolate frosting recipe

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a donut pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk egg, brown sugar, yogurt, milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  • Spoon or pipe batter into donut pan, filling each about 3/4 full.
  • Bake 9–10 minutes until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • Prepare chocolate glaze and dip the tops of each donut. Let glaze set before serving.

Notes

To make mini donuts, reduce bake time to 6–7 minutes. Store at room temp for 2 days or freeze unglazed donuts for up to 2 months. Reheat gently before glazing.
