Ingredients
4
slices
Artisan bread
Slices should be about 1/2-inch thick.
4
oz
Brie cheese
Sliced thin for even melting.
1/2
cup
Fresh blackberries
Rinsed and patted dry.
1
tbsp
Balsamic vinegar
Good quality for best flavor.
2
tbsp
Butter
Softened at room temperature for easy spreading.
1
tsp
Fresh thyme
Chopped, optional for garnish.
Instructions
Lay out the 4 slices of artisan bread. Slice the Brie thinly so it melts quickly and evenly. Pat the blackberries dry with a paper towel.
Spread a thin, even layer of softened butter on one side of each bread slice.
Place two slices butter-side-down and arrange a layer of Brie cheese on the unbuttered surface.
Scatter the fresh blackberries over the Brie and drizzle with balsamic vinegar.
Top each assembled half with the remaining bread slice, butter-side-out, and press gently.
Warm a skillet over medium heat for 2 minutes. Test readiness by flicking a drop of water.
Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook 3–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melty.
Remove from the skillet, let rest for 1 minute, then slice in half and serve immediately.
Notes
For best results, use room-temperature Brie and control moisture by patting blackberries dry.
