  • 6 pieces ripe tomatoes, finely chopped Use fresh, ripe tomatoes for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 pieces jalapeños, seeds removed and finely chopped Leave some seeds in for extra spice if desired.
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 pieces limes, juiced Juice of 2 limes.
  • to taste salt Add salt to taste.

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes, red onion, jalapeños, and cilantro.
  • Squeeze the lime juice over the mixture and sprinkle with salt to taste.
  • Stir all the ingredients together until well mixed.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary, adding more lime juice or salt as desired.
  • Let the pico de gallo sit for at least 30 minutes at room temperature or chill in the refrigerator to allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Serve with chips, as a topping for tacos, or alongside any Mexican dish.

Notes

Use fresh, ripe tomatoes for the best flavor. If you like it spicy, leave some seeds in the jalapeños. Allow it to sit for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors blend.
