Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, vegetable oil, and sugar until smooth.
Add the eggs and vanilla extract, beating until well combined.
Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder, and fold the ingredients together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
Stir in the chocolate chips, if using.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. Do not overbake.
Let cool before slicing into fudgy brownies.
Notes
These brownies are perfect on their own, but you can also serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
