Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 4 slices artisan bread sourdough, ciabatta, or rustic white
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup fresh blackberries
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 4 ounces brie cheese sliced
  • 2 ounces goat cheese optional, for extra tang
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, gently mash the blackberries with a fork. Stir in balsamic glaze, honey, and black pepper. Let sit for a few minutes to release juices.
  • Butter one side of each bread slice. On the unbuttered sides, layer brie slices (and goat cheese, if using). Spoon the blackberry mixture over the cheese and sprinkle fresh basil on top.
  • Close the sandwiches with the buttered sides facing out. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook each sandwich for 3–5 minutes per side, gently pressing down, until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Let rest for a minute, then slice and serve warm. Enjoy the irresistible cheese pull!

Notes

Use room temperature butter for even spreading and crispier bread. You can substitute brie with Camembert, fontina, or Monterey Jack.
